TR-Grid

TUBITAK ULAKBIM has been leading and coordinating grid activities representing TR-Grid National Grid Initiative (TR-Grid NGI) since 2003 in Turkey. Turkish National Grid Initiative TR-Grid NGI, carries out to determine the application development and infrastructure necessities of the end-users. TR-Grid main objectives are:

• to give the information to the national user community about grid computing, infrastructure, applications and projects
• to build up the national grid infrastructure
• to support the development of grid applications
• to take place the international grid projects actively
• to provide sustainable and progressive grid e-infrastructure with the collaboration of government, academic and industrial participants.

TR-Grid e-Infrastructure has been supported and maintained by “Turkish National Grid e-Infrastructure Project -TUGA). TUGA project was funded by TUBITAK TARAL and the project aims to combine national computing resources under the TR-Grid e-Infrastructure and to collect and expand national grid community in Turkey.

TR-Grid NGI Advisory Board was established at the end of 2007 to built national appropriate policies and strategies for the activities of TR-Grid and to provide new projects for the sustainable TR-Grid e-infrastructure. The Advisory Board comprises the members from governmental institutions besides universities.
