Software Development Departmert
This unit implements software to carry out information gathering and sorting studies that are useful to contribute to the information production of universities and research institutes, and to realize cataloging and organization of this information. Also, software needed for documentation delivery services provided by Cahit Arf Information Center in the electronic medium, is done by SDU. While doing this, the unit uses mainly open source software.
Some systems that are implemented:
• National Document Delivery System,
• Periodicals Collection System,
• Article Request System (MIS)
• Subject/Citation Reference System,
• National Databases Automation System
From January 2008, SDU has been working on National Union Catalog Project (TO-KAT) which gaims to unify the e-library projects all over the country.
It is now in use and still developing.
Another task of the unit is to form, expand and keep updated the periodicals collections catalog, which include the ULAKBIM print/electronic periodicals collection and Gazi University, Hacettepe University, METU and Bilkent University libraries periodicals collection.
