ULAKBIM Turkish Medical Database had been published in printed form between the years 1993-1997. Since 2000 it is available online, in searchable format, starting with the year 1996 and onwards. The format of National Library of Medicine is adhered to in the process of data entry. Indexing is carried out by ULAKBİM subject specialists using MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) developed in the NLM. Access to abstracts and full-texts of a large number of articles from the year 2001 onwards has been provided in the database. Searches in all fields (Turkish and English titles, author name, keywords, abstracts, etc.) can be conducted using the database interface.

The features of database:

• The Database covers journals published in Turkey in the field of health sciences, in Turkish and other languages. 25% of the articles included are in English.
• The Database, published in printed form between 1993-1997, is available online, in searchable format, starting with the year 1996 onwards, since 2000.
• Journals applying to be included in the database are evaluated according to the "Journal Evaluation Criteria" . These criteria are revised and updated yearly.
• The articles taking place in the database are original research articles and case reports. Review articles and translated articles are not included in the database.
• The format developed by the National Library of Medicine is taken as an example in the design of data entry format.
• Subject headings and keywords in MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) developed by the National Library of Medicine are used in indexing.
• The articles are transferred to the electronic environment as soon as the data entry process is completed.
• The database can be searched online in all fields (titles, author name, keywords, abstracts etc.), in English or Turkish.
• Abstracts and full-texts of a large number of articles are available online, starting with the year 2001.
